Cooking

Cooking and recipes can't be separated from language and culture. Being in the kitchen, using my hands and making something delicious is a fun and inspiring way to stay engaged with the process of learning, motivation for language, culture and literally break bread with others.

I love the smell of the aroma, spices, the process of measuring the ingredients, the stirring, the boiling, the frying, all happening in one place- the kitchen! I enjoy looking up recipes online if I think about it, whether its culture inspired or not. I most especially like utilizing and brushing off my array of cookbooks and written down recipes. A majority of them are culture inspired, and have created fond memories over the past memoires, and the others were found and created in its own inspiration with a jolt of can-do energy and childhood nostalgia.

Cooking and eating are just one of the many ways to stay engaged in the language learning process. It's also one of the easier ways to 'enter' into a culture, as who doesn't like food? I love to learn and becoming more immersed in food and recipes are a fun way to take part in the journey and adventure of language.

Bon Appetit!
